The late actor Betty White will be honored with a US postage stamp bearing her likeness starting in 2025, according to officials.
The US Postal Service (USPS) announced Friday that it would be releasing a postal stamp featuring a digital illustration of White.
White, best known for roles in sitcoms The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls, died in 2021 at the age of 99. Over her career, which spanned more than eight decades, she received eight Emmys, one Grammy, and three Screen Actors Guild awards.
The stamp features a digitally created portrait of White based on a 2010 photograph of her taken by Kwaku Alston. The image shows White smiling in front of a violet background adorned with lighter, bubbly spots, which the Postal Service said “befit her sparkling personality”.
In its announcement, the USPS said the stamp – which will be sold on a pane of 20 – exudes White’s “spritely sense of fun”.

The Postal Service described White as “an icon of American television” who “shared her wit and warmth with viewers for seven decades.
“The comedic actor, who gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s, was also revered as a compassionate advocate for animals,” the announcement added.
Greg Breeding, USPS art director, designed the stamp with original art by the illustrator Dale Stephanos.
White’s stamp was one of several announced Friday and set to be released in 2025. Among the others was a stamp featuring Allen Toussaint, the New Orleans-born pianist, singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and music producer who died in 2015.
Other 2025 stamps included a lunar new year stamp for the year of the snake, a 1794 compass rose stamp, a love stamp featuring art by Keith Haring, as well as stamps featuring the Appalachian Trail and more.
When announcing the new stamps, the USPS stamp services director Lisa Bobb-Semple said that “this early glimpse into our 2025 … program demonstrates our commitment to providing a diverse range of subjects and designs for both philatelists and stamp enthusiasts.”
The agency added that the list of new stamps released Friday was only a partial list and that additional stamps would be announced in the coming weeks and months.
